Dan Thiel is a retired WELS teacher. He lives in Oshkosh, WI with his wife, Cindy. Their church home was St Paul’s, Muskego, but now since moving to Oshkosh, they have joined the Core/St. Peter in Appleton. Dan and Cindy have four children and 6 grandchildren. Dan loves kayaking and cross-country skiing, and has even done the Birkie a few times. His wife and he enjoy motorcycling as a hobby and have taken several cross-country trips. Most of all they enjoy spending time with their grandchildren! Now they are both working on a new chapter, serving the Lord in Mahahual. They can’t both be in Mahahual due to family ties but are trying to lessen the distance by frequent visits to see each other. Welcome, Dan!

Pastor Martin Valleskey
"I am the Light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12
Pastor Valleskey was born in Blantyre, Malawi (Africa) to Missionary Stephen Valleskey and Sally Valleskey. Having mission work in the family was a big influence on him wanting to do the same. He graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, WI, and from 2005-2015 was blessed to serve the Hispanic congregations of Christ and St. Peter Lutheran churches in the inner city of Milwaukee. He’s grateful God has now given him the opportunity to continue preaching the Word on the southern end of the beautiful Caribbean coast of Mexico, based out of the town of Mahahual. In his free time Pastor Valleskey enjoys outdoor activities and smoking meat, and is currently learning some new ocean sports. His prayer is to share with the people around him salvation in Jesus through a “righteousness that is by faith from first to last” (Romans 1:17).
Deb was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina where she lived most of her life. She later moved to South Carolina where she met her husband, Hugh. She has two sons and four grandchildren, all living in the Carolinas. Deb and Hugh moved to Mexico full-time in 2004, and have been residents of Mahahual since that time. Deb became a Christian in March of 2008 which led her to begin Bible studies (with the help of a special friend, Marilyn Marshall) which came to be known as Circle of Faith. Several years later, Circle of Faith became Cruz de Cristo. She is totally devoted to the church and shares the love of Jesus with the community of Mahahual.
